Adjustable Gravitational valve for the treatment of hydrocephalus.
The Miethke M.blue® is an unique adjustable gravitational valve for the treatment of adult and pediatric hydrocephalus.
The valve combines an innovative adjustable gavitational unit (0-40 cmH2O) with a fixed differential pressure valve in one housing. This combination allows for an individual adjustment of the valve pressure independent of the position of the patient’s body. With the optional M.blue plus also the pressure of the differential pressure valve can be adjusted in the range of 0-20 cmH2O. A solution even for complex hydrocephalus cases.
MIETHKE proGAV® 2.0
MIETHKE gravitational valves provide a reliable prevention of overdrainage complications in Hydrocephalus therapy. With MIETHKE proGAV® 2.0 MIETHKE is presenting a new Hydrocephalus Valve. The approved concept of MIETHKE proGAV® has been fundamentally redesigned. Like its forerunner, MIETHKE proGAV® 2.0 consists of an adjustable and gravitational unit.
Important improvements include a “Feedback Mechanism” and a new generation of “Soft-Touch” Adjustment and Measurement Tools. The adjustable unit is equipped with a new valve surface, by using slight pressure with your finger, the “Active-Lock” Mechanism of the valve is released and a tactile feedback is sent.
The combination with the MIETHKE proGAV® 2.0 Adjustment Tools enables a soft and secure adjustment of the valve. The “Active-Lock” Mechanism provides a secure prevention of inadvertent readjustment caused by external magnet fields up to 3 Tesla. With the new MIETHKE proGAV® 2.0 Compass the opening pressure of the valve can be measured fast and without having to expose the patient to X-ray.
The MIETHKE proSA®
The MIETHKE proSA® Shunt System represents a new generation of adjustable valves.
It is the only valve available that enables a post-operative adjustment according to the individual patient’s needs for the upright body position.
Individual characteristics of the patient, e.g. the Body Mass Index, adiposity, pregnancy, growth of pediatric patients, etc. can be easily allowed for by adjusting the gravitational unit.
The MIETHKE proSA® valve offers extended options and possibilities for all fields of hydrocephalus treatment, beyond the limitations of conventional adjustable shunt systems. The pressure setting range of 0 to 40 cmH2O allows individual adjustment for each patient.
The patented adjustment and verification instruments allow easy, fast and uncomplicated treatment, without having to expose the patient to x-ray.
The MIETHKE miniNAV®
The worlds smallest hydrocephalus shunt The MIETHKE miniNAV was developed as a more compact valve that demonstrates improved performance in terms of obstruction-related problems and resistance against subcutaneous pressure. With its special design it is the ideal valve for the treatment of pediatric hydrocephalus, especially in premature and newborn infants. Another field of application is hydrocephalus in recumbent patients. The MIETHKE miniNAV® is made from titanium, a material that guarantees outstanding precision, reliability and biocompatibility.
MIETHKE DUALSWITCH® Valve
Special valve design for patients with increased level of tumor cells, debris or blood cellsA high protein level or tumor cells in the CSF can lead to valve blockage. These issues were given particular consideration in the development of the MIETHKE DUALSWITCH® Valve. The special design of the valve presents a very large surface area to the CSF, thus ensuring reliable operation even in contaminated fluid.
Clinical studies also demonstrate successful treatment of patients with so-called normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).

MIETHKE SHUNTASSISTANT® 2.0
Add-on valve for the treatment of hydrocephalus The SHUNTASSISTANT® 2.0 is the further development of the proven SHUNTASSISTANT®.The SHUNTASSISTANT® 2.0 is an efficient add-on valve for the treatment of overdrainage complications.As overdrainage protection, it can be combined with differential pressure valves (even adjustable), either as initially solution or as a secondary add-on device for patients with existing complications.
The SHUNTASSISTANT® 2.0 combines ease-of-use with 25 years proven gravitational technology. The slim, cylindric design enables a fast and easy implantation and is suitable either for adults as well as pediatric hydrocephalus treatment. Depending on the body position of the patient the SHUNTASSISTANT® 2.0 gradually adapts the opening pressure automatically and counteracts possible overdrainage.
MIETHKE GAV® 2.0
Gravitational valve for the treatment of hydrocephalusThe GAV® 2.0 is the consequent further development of the proven GAV® and paediGAV® and like its predecessors a gravitational valve consisting of a differential pressure and gravitational unit.
The combination of a differential pressure unit and gravitational unit ensures an automatic opening pressure adjustment as a function of the position of the patient’s body and in that way counteracts complications due to excess drainage.
